House by an Oak Tree

Oslo, Norway

2018

The extensions main ambition is to invite the old oak tree to be one with the house in a complete make-over throughout three floors, introducing common rooms, wet rooms, sleeping rooms and sauna. The complete gable wall is in clear and milky white glass sheets, staging the oaks foliage as an ever-changing light and shadow theatre.

At the heart of the living space, a handmade, artistic Kachel oven is placed, connecting the old and the new, introducing a heat source, a gathering place for the long winter evenings.
