MADLAND HARBOUR

Perched between the cultural landscape of Jæren, Norway and the endless horizon of the North Atlantic Ocean, one finds himself in Madland Harbor. The harbor is harsh, with big boulders and booming waves. The situation at Madland harbor, already dramatic in itself, asked for a minimal intervention.

A simple concrete plateau is laid out with a small service building. The outer cladding is made of unique plastic bricks made from recycled fishing nets from the very ocean it faces.

We are looking forward to further develop the project that will consist of a close cooperation with NCP (www.ncp.no), who are experts when it comes to the production of recycled ocean plastic designs. The idea is to design a facade brick that afterwards will be available to the public market and thereby give incentive for the use of locally based recycled building products in Scandinavia.
