The design for the future plans of Sandane centrum is now official. The challange from the municipality was to define and create a future vision for the "Urban Fjord Village" in Norway. The total area of the parallel assignment is 200.000 m2 with a focus area in the 2nd phase, where HZA together with Asplan Viak Architects were assigned to look at the potentials of the harbour area, its connection to the fjord and the old centrum. A controlling factor in the cultivation of the harbour landscape was to take into account a 200 years projected rising sea-level plans that requires a plint of 0,7m to be built. Instead of seeing the plint as something negative, it becomes a defining element in the urban plan for defining the boarders between semi-private and public spaces.
